This job came as a result of the Four Mile Fire. A past client of mine who I had helped to build their sculptural home in Gold Hill lost the home in the fire. So when they found this hundred year old dilapidated farmhouse in Boulder and they wanted to reshape, reconfigure, and remodel it, they called on us.
We gutted the entire house, reversed the direction of the staircase leading upstairs, exposed and refinished all the original hardwood floors, deconstructed an old breezeway connecting the house to the garage, retro-fitted high-efficiency windows inside the existing window frames, replaced the old boiler with a new high-efficiency system with new ducts, reconfigured the wall layout in the house, added a new full bathroom and shower upstairs where there had not been one before, a new high-efficiency woodstove, added new tile and paint and wood trim throughout, built a new deck, added new stucco to the exterior, and added new grass to parts of the yard. A complete and total makeover.
